The “Research Group on the Health Care System in the Poor Rural Areas of China” task force conducted a social intervention experiment on the reform of rural poor health care system from 1996 to 1997 in Yuandi Town, Xuanyi County, Shaanxi Province and Wulan Town, Donglan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
