贵阳市GPS交通监控及指挥系统作为基于“地理信息系统(GIS)基础上的交通管理地理信息系统”的一个有机组成部分,拟通过GPS+GPRS+GIS三位一体的设计来实现将GPS实时接收的数据结合GIS电子地图进行方便快捷的定位以及进行相关的最短路径等网络分析,从而为监控人员提供一个可视化的直观界面和交互式的操作平台,监控人员可以利用该软件对车辆进行实时跟踪、查询定位、信息检索、远程控制指挥等操作。采用这一系统结构代表了当今最先进、最流行的结构设计和未来的发展方向。并作为GITMS(贵阳智能交通)的一个重要部分在今后得到系统扩展和应用。
