Objective To investigate the protective effect of Chinese herbal medicine Angelica sinensis, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Astragali and Salvia Miltiorrhiza on radio-induced bone marrow injury in rats. Methods Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal control group, model group, and traditional Chinese medicine group. Six rats in each group were reared under the same conditions for two weeks. Rats in the model group and the traditional Chinese medicine group were given a one-time total body irradiation with 60 Gy 60Co γ-rays. , continue to feed for 1 week to kill all animals and take the material. Bone marrow cell count was used to count the number of bone marrow nucleated cells. Western blot was used to determine the protein content of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). Results Compared with the normal control group, the number of bone marrow nucleated cells, VEGF and PDGF protein in the model group rats were significantly reduced (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the bone marrow nucleated cell number and VEGF of the Chinese medicine group rats The content of PDGF protein was significantly increased (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusion Angelica sinensis, Radix Astragali, Rhizoma Chuanxiong and Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae have protective effects on rats with radioactive bone marrow injury.
