The problem of cavitation of cylinder liner is still a real problem until today. The reason for this is that there is no general criterion for estimating cavitation at the engine design stage and there is no easy way to measure cavitation in the cylinder liner of an engine during operation. As a result, cavitation problems are often overlooked in the development of new engines. In view of this situation, the Lister Institute (AVL) began work to develop a measurement method that directly inspects engine cavitation. In this study, a solid acoustic insulated quartz pressure sensor was used. As this report will show, the detection of fluid cavitation in cylinder liners is a very sensitive indicator of the measures taken to prevent cavitation. I. INTRODUCTION Although the technical level of internal combustion engines is very high, so far many problems still exist, most of which can only be solved by using diesel engines
