煤炭是我国现阶段的主要能源,82年能源构成中煤炭占71.4%。目前大部份用于直接燃烧,由于煤质差,设备陈旧,热能利用效率低,浪费大,对环境的污染也很严重。发展煤炭加工利用(煤的转化)技术,提高加工深度,可以收到节约能源、改善环境保护,提高经济价值的综合效果。国外一些工业先进的国家,对煤炭加工利用都很重视。例如日本虽然能源结构以石油为主,82年煤炭只占能源总量的16.7%,而且大部份来自国外,但政府部门和产业界人士却把煤炭视为未来的可靠能源之一,十分注重加工利用技术的研究。他们集中较多的科研力量,在改革燃烧工艺、增加商品的规格品种、寻求把煤炭转化成可以与石油媲美的
