1975年,全县共种夏玉米55.5万亩,平均亩产621斤,比1974年亩产增加90斤。其中套种夏玉米20多万亩。1972—1975年,我们对套种夏玉米的增产效果进了133次大田调查,套种夏玉米比直播的每亩平均增产107.3斤,产量提高17.4%。我们对套种夏玉米增产的原因作了初步分析。首先,套种夏玉米的生育期相对地延长了10—15天,积温达到2,600—2,700℃,使高产晚熟品种能正常成熟。其次,直播夏玉米的苗期正值汛期,常常造成“芽涝”,幼苗生长停滞,根系不下扎,形成弱苗。而套种玉米的苗期,正值6月初的旱季,促进根往下扎,有利于蹲苗。雨季
