普通螺纹车刀,一般选用纵向前角(以下简称前角)γ为:γ=0,这对切削碳钢等塑性材料,效果较差。但非零前角螺纹车刀的理论廓形是较复杂的曲线,且其线型随工件螺纹参数变化而变化,制造也很困难,故对通用刀具,一般无实用价值。对于γ≤25°的直线廓形(直线刀刃)车刀,其切削效率和切制螺纹的表面质量,都较零前角车刀有很大改善,而所得的螺纹廓形误差甚小,作为一般用途的螺纹,可忽略不计。本文主要讨论前角直线刀刃右旋普通螺纹车刀几何参数的设计,以及螺纹廓形误差的简要分析。至于用于切制阿基米德
