This article focuses on the daily practice in the field of television production and analyzes the localization of the “ugly Betty” model in China through ethnographic observations. The filming and production of the show reflects the encounter and collision of the global television model with local knowledge. The global knowledge that television models carry guides local producers in the reproduction of the original program, and the television production community needs to adapt the elements of local community perceptions appropriately based on local knowledge. Adopting, negotiating and discarding are the common tactics adopted by local producers to adapt the global model, the introduction of models and the deviation of translation, and finally the formation of mixed cultural products.
