His ability to paraphrase and use subtle allusions to enable readers to identify their themes or share their experiences often serves as a measure of his poet’s identity. At the same time, we also find that the poets use an established theme or image to express a completely opposite view. In the article, Ma Yueran made a detailed alternative explanation of four Mao Tse-tung’s poems using the “reverse theme”.
