“河口英语”正在英国本土强劲地崛起，并迅速传布，颇有取代ＲＰ而登上英语“语音宝座”之势。然而在我国尚无有关评介或论述。本文就“河口英语”的使用地域、方言归属及其与ＲＰ和伦敦土语的关系等方面阐明其界定的模糊性，分析了促使“河口英语”迅速崛起的社会、心理及语言等因素，并初步探讨了“河口英语”的语音、语法和词汇方面的特点，指出ＲＰ与伦敦土语的结合及美国英语的影响是“河口英语”的两大语言特征 “Estuary English” is a strong rise in the British mainland, and quickly spread, rather replace the RP and boarded the English “voice throne” trend. However, there is no relevant review or discussion in our country. This paper illustrates the ambiguity of the definition of “Estuary English”, its dialect ownership and its relation with RP and London native language, and analyzes the social, psychological and linguistic factors that promote the rapid rise of Estuary English. Exploring the phonetic, grammatical and lexical features of Estuarine English, pointing out that the combination of RP with London’s native language and the influence of American English are the two major linguistic features of Estuarine English
