In this paper, a high precision CCD tracking system with active linear locus weld with dual linear CCD as sensor and laser diode as light source is introduced. This tracking system is a smart imaging probe. It has a weld seam identification accuracy of 35 μm / 10 mm and a set of weld seam recognition accuracies of greater than 3.5 μm / 10 mm.
