在书法史上,学界对漆墨的先后问题与漆书的存在多有存疑。但出土漆书文献,可补史书之阙,大漆在书法发展史上的地位与身份也是毋庸置疑的。在材料上,凝重粘稠的大漆对书法之书体、笔法、结构和章法的演变均有重要作用;在装饰上,大漆的书法形式能够呈现独特的触觉美与视觉美;在文化上,大漆赋予书法之美,书法也反哺漆艺之韵。大漆与书法根植于中华传统文化的丰沃土壤,它们承载与书写了中华民族绚烂多彩的历史文化。
