Objective To investigate the effect of the total number of normal motile forward spermatozoa on in vitro fertilization (IVF) fertilization rate. Methods One hundred and eighty infertile couples who were the first routine in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer were divided into A, B and C groups. In group A, the total number of spermatozoa with normal morphology was 0 ~ 0.4 × 106 / m L, that of group B with normal morphology was 0.4 ~ 1.8 × 106 / m L, and that of group C was 1.8 × 106 / m L. The mean normal motile sperm motility and in vitro fertilization fertilization rate in the first six months before ovulation were retrospectively analyzed. The relationship between the total number of normal motile forward motility sperm and in vitro fertilization fertilization rate was analyzed. Results In vitro fertilization rate of 91.02% in group C was significantly higher than that of 60.38% in group A and 76.06% in group B, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). Conclusion When the total number of normal motile forward spermatozoa is more than 0.4 × 106, stable in vitro fertilization rate can be obtained.
