“天不怕,地不怕,就怕广东人说普通话”。这话虽然有些夸张,但更多的是友好的玩笑和诙谐。可这话似乎也反映了某种程度的实际。南方诸省的同胞,由于方言和发音习惯的不同,学起普通话来不但费劲,而且声调往往不标准、不悦耳。所谓“南腔北调”的说法,大概由此而来的。建国不久,党和政府就号召全国人民学习和推广普通话。只是由于多种原因,过去的成果并不甚使人满意。值得高兴的是,十多年来,随着我国改革、开放政策的实施,及其沟通、交流的需求,普通话的推广与应用又有了新的使命和进展。在包括广东在内的南方诸省,以及其他一些省区,讲普通话者的比率和所讲普通话的标准程度,都有很大提高。可是,恰在此时,却又出现了一种奇怪现象。那就是
