[United Kingdom “International Nuclear Engineering”, June 1988, p. 14] The American Westinghouse Hanford Company is successfully using the TRUEX (Trans-Uranium Element Extraction) process to remove plutonium and other transuranic elements from acidic wastewater. E.P. Horwitz of Argonne National Research Institute and W.W. Schulz of Westinghouse Hanford Co., Ltd. jointly developed the successful TRUEX process and won the 1987 I-R100 Technology Award.
