《荀子》提及“知”(智)达487次,显示出对“知”(智)的高度重视。荀子突显“心”(解蔽心)的认知意义,将“知识”作为“智”的第一要义;把“是是非非”看作“智”的第二要义,将其视为“智德”的主要内涵。荀子的“智”有不同等级之分,“智德”并非只是作为辅“仁”的次德,而是与“仁德”等量齐观的主德。其意义与价值在于:承接孔孟对“智德”的重视,将“智”提升为建构整个道德实践论的基础核心概念。
