洪川大师是日本江户时代著名的禅师和书法家。有一年,日本江户城建造了一座京碧寺,寺庙落成后,当时的最高统帅德川家康就派人请洪川大师采为京碧寺书写“第一议谛”四个字。第二天一早,洪川大师准时来到京碧寺,只见寺庙大院里已经摆上了桌子和文房四宝,而且四周还围满了前来观看书写的居民。洪川大师走到桌前,一边拿笔蘸墨一边想:“这么多人看着,我一定要写出四个好字来!”结果由于心理压力太大,洪川大师在书写的时候反而用力不稳,导致他对自己写的这四个字非常不满意。洪川大师决定重新写,可第二次他还是没有写出令自己满意
Master Hong Chuan is a famous Zen master and calligrapher in the Edo period in Japan. One year, Edo Castle built a Jingbi Temple in Japan. After the completion of the temple, the then highest commander, Tokugawa Ieyasu, sent a person to invite Hong Chuan to use it as the first word for writing. The next morning, Master Hong Chuan came to the Jingbi Temple on time and saw that the temple courtyard had already placed the table and the four treasures of the writing room. It was surrounded by people who came to see the writing. Master Hong Chuan came to the table and thought while thinking about the following words: “When so many people watched, I must write four good words!” The result was that Master Hong Chuon was writing because of too much psychological pressure.
