如果您想开拓盆栽花卉的新领域,不妨把玉竹纳入其中。作为药用植物,玉竹不仅药效颇佳,而且具有很高的观赏价值,非常适合家庭盆栽。玉竹株高30～50厘米,粗壮直立,有美观的纵绫,上部深绿色,下部红褐色,茎上生长着匀称明显、类似竹节的节,因此得名。叶互生,长卵或椭圆形,叶面布满深而匀称的纵向脉纹,碧绿、宽大、肥厚、无柄。在每片叶的叶腋处,着生直径1～2厘米的吊钟状绿白色花朵,通常1～3朵(如图),花期4月下旬至6月上旬。茎、叶、花均清雅脱俗,别有情趣。
