Normally, polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) adhere to the endothelium of the blood vessel only transiently, migrate along the vessel wall during acute inflammation, and then accumulate from the endothelium through the blood vessel to the site of injury. What is the reason for PMN adhesion to specific parts of the blood vessels and how to complete the adhesion is unclear. The authors cultured endothelial cells and isolated PMN in vitro using monolayer collection and scanning electron microscopy, counting. It was found that there was an interaction between PMN and endothelial cells. The cell surface charges of divalent cations and chemokines could affect this effect, and PMN had obvious specificity on the adhesion of endothelial cells. Scanning electron microscopy counted more than 50% of bovine PMN and 36% of human PMN adhering to bovine endothelial cells
