The impact of technology today on tomorrow’s work will be enormous - no country is ready for it. As a panacea for progress, innovation will always make people lose their jobs. During the Industrial Revolution, hand-weavers were replaced by mechanical looms. Over the past three decades, the digital revolution has left many mid-skilled jobs gone and it is these jobs that underpinned the middle-class life of the twentieth century. Typists, ticketing agents, bank tellers, and many other production lines have vanished, just as weaver weavers in the past. In the eyes of those who believe that technological advances have made the world a better place, including our own, it seems that such dramatic changes are a natural consequence of rising prosperity
