[Objective] To comparatively analyze the change of death of malignant tumor in residents of Chuzhou District and Jinhu County, and to find meaningful clues to provide decision-making reference for the prevention and control of malignant tumor. [Methods] The data of Chuzhou District and Jinhu County in the national investigation of cause of death from 1973 to 1975 and from 2004 to 2005 were analyzed. [Results] In the two surveys, malignant tumors were the first cause of death among residents in two counties (districts). The death rate of malignant tumor was 179.34 / 100,000 in Chuzhou District in 1973 ~ 1975 and 168.14 / 100,000 in 2004 ~ 2005, 133.33 / 100,000 in Jinhu County in 1973 ~ 1975 and 214.15 / 100,000 in 2004 ~ 2005 . The standardized mortality rate of malignant tumors was 262.59 / 100,000 in Chuzhou District from 1973 to 1975, and 205.70 / 100,000 in Jinhu County (P <0.01). From 2004 to 2005, Chuzhou District was 162.63 / 100,000 and Jinhu County was 180.02 / 100000 (P> 0.05). From 2004 to 2005 and from 1973 to 1975, the proportion of esophageal cancer deaths decreased from 52.09% to 42.61% in Jinzhou County and from 28.6% to 28.45% in Jinhu County. The proportion of deaths from lung cancer in Chuzhou District increased from 2.10% Rose to 11.19%, Jinhu County rose from 2.55% to 12.50%. [Conclusion] The mortality rate of malignant tumor in Chuzhou District and Jinhu County is higher. The proportion of malignant tumor deaths in both phases was significantly lower in both regions (counties) than in esophageal cancer patients. Lung cancer was significantly increased.
