Recently, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Tanzanian government signed a $ 407 million aid package, according to East Africa Business Week (Kampala). The deadline is 5 years. Assistance funds are mainly used in the fields of health, agriculture, natural resource management, education, energy and good governance. The U.S. Agency for International Development said it is part of the United States government’s support for Tanzania’s long-term vision for 2025 to help Tanzania transform itself into a middle-income nation. In June 2016, the U.S. ambassador to Tajikistan, in talks with his Tanzanian counterpart Fabianovic, promised that Washington’s bilateral aid to Tanzania would not be affected by the withdrawal of funds from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
