文学史这三个字眼,在我们的心中究竟该是什么样子呢?是简练还是纷繁,是凝滞还是变幻,是已然棺盖论定还是急需推陈出新,在[美]宇文所安的这本自选集《他山的石头记》(田晓菲译,刘东主编,江苏人民出版社2003年1月)中,我们似乎隐约找到了某些提示。文学史绝对不会注定是我们最熟悉的那个样子:像一只只美丽而脆弱的已经逝去的珍稀蝴蝶的标本,陈列在博物馆坚固的玻璃罩之下,神圣得让人心生敬畏,每当我们踮着脚尖睁大双眼努力观察它们的时候,脑海里闪现的只有一个词——认识——尽力地去认识那绚丽翅膀
