Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is the major causative agent of Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) and belongs to the small intestine parvovirus. The genome of this virus consists of fragile flat-stranded RNA, which is easily broken , There is a high mutation. In mixed infection will occur different subtypes of different strains of the same type, or belong to the same type of gene exchange to form a new recombinant virus, EV71 also has recombinant features. The newly formed recombinant virus may lead to its biological characteristics and pathogenic changes, thereby affecting the prevention and control of the disease. This article reviews the EV71 virus gene recombination and possible prevention and control problems.
