This article gives a detailed account of the discussions on the method of studying the flotation process in laboratories held in the report of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg in 2005 and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the method for testing the electrochemical parameters of slurry under the conditions of mixing. Taking the nickel-pyrrhotite flotation separation process as an example, the advantages of the direct potential detection method are proved. A number of key issues were raised, such as the order of addition of the agents during the conditioning process, the optimal dosage of the agent, and new combinations of dimethyldithiocarbamates and xanthates.
