The project is a reconstruction and extension of a building facing the Zabala Plaza in the Old City of Montevideo. The project reinforces the already decaying plaza border by referencing the current height of adjacent buildings. In the late twentieth century, the daytime area of Montevideo’s old town was remodeled for office use and only a handful of residential buildings. This process has been reversed in recent years with the recovery of buildings and major streets. The project was put under such a background, trying to reconcile the recovery process of the Old City as a permanent settlement. The program designed 20 apartments and 4 commercial outlets.
