Sala Magnetic Inc. has designed and manufactured continuous high-gradient magnetic separators and conducted intermediate tests on several types of ores. The tests included closed-circuit tests at Sarah Magnetic’s pilot plant in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and field tests in Sweden and the United States. The main force focused on iron ore sorting, while uranium - gold tailings, molybdenum concentrate and wolframite were tested. These results will be published and discussed the selection and economic advantages of a high gradient magnetic separator. Special emphasis is placed on the recovery of low grade iron ore, other ores or tailings that are now being discarded. Clearly, due to the limited capacity of existing sorting technologies, high gradient magnetic separation technology will play an important role in the recovery of valuable minerals.
