The 5th International Conference of Mongolians will be held in Ulan Bator, People’s Republic of China from September 14 to September 21, 1987. This is a notable event for the international academic community in Mongolia. September 1959 My delegation attended the first International Conference of Mongolians. For the best of known reasons, my country did not send a representative to the second, third and fourth general assemblies. It is reported that the forthcoming General Assembly has sent an official invitation to our country and the relevant agencies in our country have decided to send scholars to attend the meeting. The Mongolian academic circles in our country are very concerned about the current situation of international Mongolian studies as well as their prospects for future development and the preparations for the organization of the conference. To this end, the article entitled “Current Situation and Prospects of Mongolian Studies” by C. Lubusan-Sangamdan, Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of the International Mongolian Magistracy, is reproduced below (translated into English according to the letter sent to the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences) for reference only. What needs to be pointed out is that some of the presentations are not comprehensive enough in the article and the evaluation in some places is inadequate. Nevertheless, we think this article still has certain reference value for us to understand the general situation and dynamics of international Mongolian studies. --editor
