Ovarian cancer is one of the most common causes of death from malignant tumors in women in Western countries. About one out of every 70 newborn baby girls in the United States will develop ovarian cancer. The areas with the highest incidence are in southwestern Europe and South America. About 19,000 epithelial ovarian cancers were recently discovered in the United States in 1987, and about 11,000 died of the disease. This article gives a brief overview of some new concepts in the treatment of epithelial ovarian cancer. The treatment of ovarian cancer has made great strides over the past decade. With the development of diagnostic techniques and the emergence of new anti-cancer drugs, the precise stage and postoperative management of ovarian cancer have become the key to improve the treatment efficiency and survival.
