Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of serum human epididymal protein 4 (HE4), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) and transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) in ovarian cancer. Methods: From January 2013 to December 2014, 500 cases of ovarian lesions diagnosed in our hospital and 200 healthy women in the center of physical examination were selected as the control group. The serum levels of HE4 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and chemiluminescence analysis system , CA125 levels, and vaginal ultrasound examination. Results: 70 cases of ovarian cancer and 430 cases of benign ovarian disease were found in 500 cases of ovarian lesions by biopsy. The levels of HE4 and CA125 in ovarian cancer group were significantly higher than those in benign ovarian disease group and healthy control group. The levels of HE4 and CA125 in benign ovarian disease group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group (P <0.01). The sensitivity and specificity of HE4 + CA125 in detecting ovarian cancer were 80.00% and 95.11% respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of HE4 + CA125 + TVS in detecting ovarian cancer were 94.29% and 97.91% respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of HE4 + CA125 + TVS in detecting ovarian cancer were significantly higher than those of HE4, CA125 or TVS alone (P <0.05). Conclusion: The combination of HE4, CA125 and TVS in the detection of ovarian cancer can improve the specificity and sensitivity of diagnosis, which is of great significance for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of ovarian cancer.
