Using a concise pain questionnaire (BPI-C) and a doctor evaluation questionnaire (PPA), 386 paediatric and outpatient cancer patients were investigated for pain and related conditions at two cancer hospitals and four general hospitals in Beijing. The results showed that the prevalence rate of pain in cancer patients was 66.3%, and the distribution of mild, moderate and severe pain was 35.2%, 25.9% and 5.2%, respectively. The analysis of the average pain level and seven indicators such as daily life, emotions, walking ability, normal work, interpersonal relationships, sleep and life pleasure showed that the degree of pain was positively correlated with the seven indicators (Pearson correlation coefficient was between 0.56 and Between 0.79 and P<0.001, the more severe the pain, the greater the impact on daily life. In pain patients, about 70% of the pain is directly caused by cancer metastasis, compression and infiltration, and about 30% is caused by other factors.
