The Chinese characters are not simple. In the winter of 1961, under the leadership of Professor Xu Zhongyu of the Chinese Department of East China Normal University, a group of our graduating students went to my alma mater, West City Middle School. What I taught was the “Report on the Investigation of the Peasants’ Movement in Hunan Province.” Due to a lot of effort, the class was very good. During the course of the assessment, the compliment was endless and I was very proud of it. At the end of the day, the teacher of the Chinese language teaching team of the city west and Mrs. Li Huiqun, Mrs. Liu Dajie’s wife, gave a very polite opinion and pointed out that my “paper” character on the board “on the paper” was a bit more and was written as “(纟氐)”. . Although she explained again and again that she was just “slightly squeaky on the white walls” and “a bit of a squat,” I still feel that my face has almost reddened to the neck. Yeah, I’m going to graduate from college and get on the rostrum, but even the words at the very least will be wrong. Shouldn’t I reflect on it?
