利用程控器在体外以无创的方式调整埋植于体内的起搏器的起搏方式及电参数,称为起搏器的程控功能。最先进的程控器不仅能将信息——程控参数,由体外传入体内,而且可接收埋植起搏器传出的各种参数,这就是起搏器的遥测功能。简单说来,程控(programming)就是将必要的信息由体外传入体内的起搏器,而遥测(Telemetry)则是将体内起搏器的信息传至体外。亦即起搏信息的传送:体外(?)体内程控的目的是改变起搏器参数,而遥测则是用于诊断,因此将有遥测功能的起搏器又称为具有诊断功能的起搏器(Diagnostic Pacemaker)。
