命名绝不仅仅是一种约定俗成的称呼,也是对对象的一种定性,折射着其本质特征和核心观念。多年来,话剧为“话”所局限,而不断发展的戏剧创作,一方面从观念上修正和丰富着“话剧”的内涵;另一方面,“话剧”称谓却无容置疑地妨碍着观念的延展和更新。“话剧”称谓的局限性具体表现在内涵的肤浅和歧义性、观念的狭隘性、非严格意义上的学科范畴以及对许多现代戏剧无法命名的尴尬等方面。“名”“实”之间的巨大裂痕使中国的“话剧”称谓早已落后于戏剧发展的需要并束缚着戏剧的发展。
