Objective: To analyze the status of blood lipid in Uygur (Uygur) and Han people (≥50 years old) in Xinjiang and to find out whether there are any ethnic differences among them. Methods: A stratified randomized multistage cluster sampling method was used to survey the prevalence of blood lipid levels in 2558 people living in Xinjiang, with 2567 Uighurs ≥50 years old and 2,291 Han residents, with a total of 4858 people. Results: (1) The mean serum total cholesterol (TC) was (4.75 ± 1.05) mmol / L and the high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was (1.38 ± 0.37) mmol / L (2.57 ± 1.21) mmol / L and triglyceride (TG) were 1.74 ± 1.26 mmol / L for LDL-C; (2) The serum TC of Uygur group was (4.81 ± 1.14) (1.36 ± 0.39) mmol / L in Uygur group, lower than that of Han nationality group (1.41 ± 0.33) mmol / L, and higher than that of Han nationality group (4.69 ± 0.94) mmol / L (2.69 ± 1.16) mmol / L in Uygur group, which was significantly higher than that in Han nationality group (2.45 ± 1.26 mmol / L) (P <0.05) ) mmol / L, which was lower than that in Han nationality (1.78 ± 1.39 mmol / L, P <0.05). (3) The levels of TC, HDL-C, LDL-C and TG in the sampled population were significantly higher (P <0.05). (4) The prevalence of high TC was 33.8% and 26.0% respectively in Han and Wei ethnic groups (P <0.05). The prevalence of high LDL-C was 34.1% 20.2% (P <0.05). The prevalence of high TG was 33.2% and 37.9% in Han and Wei ethnic groups (P <0.05). The prevalence of low HDL-C was 16.9% and 6.8% <0.05). Conclusion: The blood lipid level and the prevalence of dyslipidemia in people of Uygur and Han ethnic groups of over 50 years old in Xinjiang are different between ethnic groups and between sexes.
