Since the Geluo Aero Geophysical Brigade discovered the Tan-Lu fault in 1957, many geological units successively conducted a large amount of investigations and studies on different sections of the fault. On this basis, the meaning of the Tan-Lu fault zone has also been further expanded from the narrowly defined concept (from Tancheng, Shandong to Lujiang, Anhui Province), and there are numerous opinions. It is generally believed that it is connected northward to the Yishu fault zone (Lu), Yingkou-Weifang fault zone (Bohai Sea), Xiaoliaohe fault depression (Liao) and Yilan-Yitong fault and extends to Soviet territory. However, there is little consensus on its whereabouts to the north of the Lower Liaohe Fault. Some people connect it with Dunhua-Mishan fault. Others advocate the connection with the Shenyang-Changchun-Harbin fault. As for its southern extension, there are different opinions at present. One opinion holds that it crossed the river from Guangji in Hubei Province, went to Guangxi Shiwandashan in Hengyang, cut into the Red River fault in Vietnam, and in the other opinion, Cross the river, and the Ganjiang River fault, the North River
