鲁迅对于东亚殖民地作家们具有持久而巨大的魅力,东亚殖民地作家们将鲁迅作为文学创作或抵抗殖民的思想资源,他们或模仿鲁迅文风,或改写鲁迅作品,或继写鲁迅小说,也都有着较大的影响,研究者已经关注到这一点并产生了一些研究成果。曾被日本帝国主义暴力侵占并事实上成为殖民地的中国东北沦陷区,青年作家们同样热爱鲁迅,他们成立鲁迅文学研究社,冒险传阅鲁迅作品,将鲁迅作为精神反抗的资源。伪满洲国的作家们在鲁迅作品被禁的语境下,采取了将鲁迅“合法化”的策略,视鲁迅为反抗的明灯,在文学创作方面学习鲁迅,使伪满洲国的文学创作取得了不俗的实绩。
