Objective To investigate the clinical effect of pendipril hydrochloride in the treatment of senile hypertension. Methods Sixty elderly patients with hypertension in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Hospital from July 2014 to June 2017 were selected and randomly divided into control group and treatment group with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional antihypertensive drugs. The treatment group was treated with pendipril hydrochloride on the basis of the control group, and the patients in both groups were treated continuously for 1 month. Blood pressure, blood rheology (whole blood high shear viscosity, whole blood low shear viscosity, plasma viscosity), clinical efficacy, time to normal blood pressure recovery, total treatment time, complications and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results There was no difference in systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure between the two groups before treatment (P> 0.05). After treatment, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups before treatment (P> 0.05). After treatment, the whole blood high shear viscosity, whole blood low shear viscosity and plasma viscosity were lower than those of the control Group (P <0.05). The total effective rate of the treatment group was 96.7%, which was higher than that of the control group (73.3%, P <0.05). The blood pressure of the treatment group returned to normal time, and the total treatment time was shorter than that of the control group (P <0.05). The incidence of complications in the treatment group was 3.33% (1/30), which was lower than 23.33% (7/30) in the control group. The incidence of adverse reactions in the treatment group was 6.67% (2/30), lower than that in the control group 33.33% (10/30) (P <0.05). Conclusions Pepidular hydrochloric acid is effective in treating hypertension in elderly patients, which can effectively ensure the safety of medication, shorten the time of medication and improve the blood rheology.
