However, he goes on to show that he still has no certainty in terms of grammar and certain idioms. (Lesson One) After go, stop, and other verbs, the noun structure is often used as the object. If the infinitive structure of the verb is used, it is not the object but the target adverb. Compare the following sentence: He went to show us how to do it. He went on to teach us what to do. (He made on to experiments to test the truth of other old ideas. He continued to experiment to test whether other old ideas were true.) (Verb structure as object)
