Sholokhov had been misunderstood for some time before his death. Someone described him as a man dressed in peace. In fact, Sholokhov is a person who is neither haughty nor humble. And he is also good at using wit and humor to get himself out of trouble. On one occasion, the Khrushchevs and the couple were planning to go to the Sholokhov’s house as a guest. Sholokhov said bluntly to the first lady on the phone: “I respect you and Nikita Sergeyevich, But you guys know it. The saying goes, ’Service is willing and service is upsetting.’” Božírev also touched the wall in Sholokhov. He had proposed to visit Sholokhov in Vejenshinsk, but Sholokhov said to him: "My dear Nikita Ilic, it is a good thing that you come to me, but what if the crops fail? Looks like this year’s harvest is not good.”” Sholokhov had ingeniously rejected the top leader of the CPSU in this seemingly joke way. In 1933, many of the radical acts in the Soviet collective movement had greatly damaged the interests of the peasants. Sholokhov had written to Stalin to report to him the truth and requested relief for the hungry. He even threatened Stalin in the letter. If Stalin did not take measures to solve the problem, he would write it in the second part of the “Virginly Exploited Places.”
