民族文化既要发展也要保存。但是发展不能丢失属于自己本土化的传统,保存不能是原地踏步。对于当代中国古典舞蹈的走向,海峡两岸在舞蹈教学上虽然因地理、人文与政策不同,出现了发展传统与保存传统的不同做法,但是从两地区舞蹈教学中的发展轨迹,许多方面却表现出对于传统舞蹈基本认识的一致性.而寻找中华传统之根成为两地区近当代舞蹈工作者的首要任务。如何用属于自己的艺术语言来表达中国人的情感?大陆地区与台湾地区,不论是老一代舞蹈前辈或是年青的舞蹈工作者都不断的向戏曲艺术探索,试图通过对戏曲的借鉴、剥离,在教学上、创作上、学术研究上建设一种真正属于中国的古典舞。
