The enterprise’s IT department is no longer limited to measuring business processes within the IT department. One analogy describes the change: the original IT department looked at IT on the earth, while the BSM was on the moon to see IT. Since BSM (Business Service Management) was first introduced in 2003, BSM has been around for six years and now BMC has updated this notion and proposed a dynamic BSM philosophy. The enterprise’s IT department is no longer limited to measure the business processes inside the IT department. Instead, it strategically looks for a good fit between the IT department and the enterprise business department, and measures the value of the IT department from a business perspective.
