暖红室本、吴梅校本、集成本的吕天成《曲品》中均载沈鲸为“平湖人”;而清初钞本、清河本、曲苑本则无。吴书荫《曲品校注》等皆云:“《咸丰兴化县志》卷七《选举·二》上载沈鲸在明成化间任嘉兴府知事。”据《明史》卷七一、志第四七《选举三》:“洪武间,定南北更调之制,南人官北,北人官南。其后官制渐定,自学官外,不得官本省,亦不限南北也。”由于任官制中的本省回避制度,沈鲸在嘉兴府为官,定不会是平湖人。现存最早的《兴化县志》为嘉靖三十八年刻本,其中卷三《选举表》:“成化二十一 Warm Red Room, Wu Mei school-based, integrated Lv Tiancheng ”song“ are contained in the whale as ”Pinghu people “; and the early Qing Dynasty, Qinghe Ben, Qu Yuan Ben this.
