上杭老城曾经是客家人聚居区之一,除了一段宋代始建、明代扩建的石砌城墙,现存以解放路、临江路、杭中路等为代表的古街还保存着完备的明清时期客家民居、宗祠和商业街区以及古朴的生活方式,继2008年东门大街、西门大街陆续被拆后,2012年,解放路、杭中路等老街在由地方政府发起的“城市大会战”中又面临被全面拆除的危险,一群家在上杭的年轻人,通过网络发出呼吁,恳请专家来上杭鉴定民居,老街的价值。他们试图用普通公民的力量,获取社会各界的关注,保护最后的老街,最后的老宅……
