临沐县位于山东省东南部。境内东部多山,中部丘陵,西部为平原地带,地势呈东高西低状。西有沭河纵贯南北,中有沧源河由北向南注入沭河。近年来在考古调查中发现古遗址30多处,大多数分布在河流两岸的平原或台地上。下面介绍内涵较为丰富的北沟头和寨子两处遗址。一、北沟头遗址位于县城西北郑山乡北沟头村北50米处的一土台上,东临沧源河。土台高3米,长、宽各80米。文化层较厚,约5米余。地面或断崖上暴露有大量红烧土 Lin Mu County is located in southeastern Shandong Province.
