棉根蚜(Smynthurodes betae Westwood),又名菜豆根蚜,系为害棉花根部的一种蚜虫,属蚜总科中的瘿绵蚜科,斯绵蚜属,在我国及我省均有分布。该虫1983年在寒亭区央子镇崔家央于棉田发生,到1989年已扩展到央子镇、固堤镇、部队农场、潍北农场等地,发生面积达25500亩,减产皮棉约25万多公斤。1985～1992年对其发生规律及防治进行了研究。一、棉根蚜的形态特征及为害棉根蚜为无翅胎生雌蚜,体为卵圆形,低龄时桔黄色,成蚜乳白色,体表略披白色蜡粉,体长1.8毫米,体宽1.4毫米。触角4～6节,粗而短,较光滑。喙4～6节,长锥形,可达后足基部。无腹管。足、尾片褐色至灰褐色。尾片小,呈半圆形。
