永州地处湖南西南部,地域偏僻,交通不便,受外来文化影响较少,至今保存着古老的文化传统和民间习俗。战国时期永州地属楚国,楚人信鬼神崇尚巫术。永州人民遇到事情习惯通过巫术求助于神灵,希望可以得到祖宗和神灵的庇护。遇到一些红白喜事,或者建房打井、架桥修路,甚至庄稼遭受灾害时,人们都会请当地“师公”印刷一些相应的纸马,通过做法事,祭祀神灵,以求得消灾降福。同时在民族上永州又是一个以瑶汉民族杂居的地区。据相关文献记载,永州从唐朝开始就有了瑶族人口长期居住。
Located in the southwestern part of Hunan Province, Yongzhou is remote and inaccessible and has little influence from foreign cultures. It has preserved ancient cultural traditions and folk customs. Warring States period is a state of Chu, Chu people believe in spirits God Witchcraft. People in Yongzhou are accustomed to resort to the gods through witchcraft, hoping they can get the protection of their ancestors and gods. Encounter some red and white weddings, or building wells, bridges and roads, and even crop disaster, people will ask the local “teacher” print some of the corresponding paperwork, through the practice of worship, sacrifice to the gods in order to obtain disaster relief blessing. At the same time in the nation Yongzhou is a Yao-Han ethnic mixed area. According to the relevant literature, Yongzhou Yao people lived permanently from the Tang Dynasty.
