The post antibiotic effect (PAE) is a new concept after entering the 21st century and is a new indicator of the effectiveness of antibiotic drugs. The proposed PAE to a greater extent to improve the evaluation of pharmacodynamics, fully reflects the relationship between drugs, bacteria, and host, changing the long-term people think that antibiotics must reach the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) or minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), the traditional concept of good antibacterial effect. The influencing factors of PAE and its latest research progress were reviewed, and the clinical significance of PAE was analyzed.
