The collapse of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 brought not only German reunification but also a great impetus to contemporary German literature. Since then, a group of new generation writers have gradually come to the fore. Many of them have made their best debut works at the turn of the century, arousing widespread concern among readers, media and critics in Germany and abroad. Particularly noteworthy is that many of these writers are young female writers born after 1970, who are referred to by the media as “literary gentry.” This paper introduces three representative writers, and analyzes their famous works in terms of theme, language, characters and narrative style.
