在改造自由锻锤设备中,需要125吨重的砧座,然而我厂最大的炼钢设备容量只为10吨电炉。这样的条件要胜任这一任务,按常规是无法完成的。党委发动群众,大胆革新,充分利用所有冶炼设备,终于成功浇铸了140吨的砧座铸坯。我们采用的方法是:三台10吨电炉和一台5吨电炉同时并连续冶炼(装炉时间相差1.5小时),浇铸中要适当搅拌,并要注意熔化温度和铸造温度的温差(要小)。砧座上下平面加工,采用蚂蚁啃骨头方法,自制了一台土铣床,选用了龙门铣铣头,另做了一些移动机构,加工出了水平误差小于0.05毫米的合格砧座。
